  1. You are a braver man than I Trevor, there is absolutely no way you would get me on that motorcycle.
Wish you had gone to Patpong, my first introduction to the girly bars in Asia many years ago.

  2. The problem of ice in the beer glass is not the watering down effect it causes, but the dangers of bugs (germs) in the ice. The stuff is delivered to the bars in hessian sacks and I've seen these same sacks sitting on the ground with dogs urinating on them. Gee, beer prices have sure increased since I was lasr there. 130 baht for a large Leo. Scandalous.

  3. The ice in the beer thingy was a thing that I really didn't like until I was in Bangkok last time and met 2 thai ladys in the elevator and got invited by them up to the roof pool to share some beers and so on and then I tried it… It's actually quite nice 🙂
Thought that the beer would be "watery" but nah its good 🙂

  4. this post and the BACKYARD BAR post just came thru as a NEW POST ????… strange… so you were not keen on the train trip, i once mentioned to you i would do that trip… loved the motor cycle taxi ride at the end.. its fun riding a mcycle over there compared to australia.. keep up the good work … i may see you when the airfares drop a little… peter

  5. Trev I stayed in the D&D back in 2015 and that was my first time hooking up with my Beautiful hot Russian lady 😄🙏🏻

I really should add to your story book
Because I’ve got a few good stories 😆

  6. hua hin is a nice balance..beach (nicer) than pattaya or jomtien…

for me when i lived in pattaya..maybe every 3 months or so…i would take the bus (AC and WiFi) at jomtien for 150baht to the BKK airport..then 300bht to a hotel near nana plaza…so for $15 i got from Jomtien to my hotel in bangkok…

party it up in the big city…then "reverse" back to pattaya..

  7. I stayed at the Ambassador many times during COVID.. GOT a suite for 1200. Massive room. BKK over priced. But brings back memories. It's where l lived with my first gf

  8. I was right…the bastards used Covid lockdown to destroy small biz then buy up and upscale anything in a choice spot like along the river. Those food prices are obscene. You could do better on Sukhumvit. And that area is a royal pain in the ass to get to…a veritable tourist "trap". Once you get in, you'll stay for days.

  9. Thank you for sharing the day with us. Looks like the motorbike taxi was the better option; the TukTuk would have been StuckStuck in traffic. Did you take train back to Pattaya or return some other way?

  10. 1) There's plenty of alternative hotels/accomodation/airbnbs in BKK.
Personally I tend to stay in mid-cheap or condos, purely because I spend very little time in a hotel. No problem walking around a corner to find some breakfast unless I get up very early on a travel day which can be before places open up.
Absolute last resort, there's usually a McDs nearby.

    2) Yes, BTS, MRT, SRT etc 'train' system is definately the best way to travel around Bangkok for 90+% of journeys and it's cheap & easy to use. One slight drawback is that you need to buy a new ticket for each journey/network. Maybe there's a cover all ticket for monthly or yearly use but I've never seen it (maybe the "Rabbit Card" does it?). So a return journey using MRT and BTS will require buying 4 tickets at 4 stations. Not really a problem as it's still cheap and quick, and the staff are pretty efficient so queues are rarely long (time-wise) but can be occasionally. River ferries are also pretty good for some journeys, but be careful where you sit on them as you really don't want to be splashed by the river water.

    3) I'm a city boy and love Bangkok.
I do appreciate getting away from the place but it's usually my base for travelling in TH. I can't waste my time by spending all day drinking (I'd die of boredom) but love wandering around the streets, backstreets, temples and markets.
The Grand Palace is a well known 'Must See' but there's loads of interesting places from the daytime markets and night markets, every temple is interesting (although it's easy to get 'Temple'd-out' if you see too many too often). Take a gentle walk pretty much anywhere in BKK, stop for a coffee/soft drink and just watch this very different world go by for 20-30 minutes then just walk again etcetc..

    4) Bangkok is usually too hot to cram too much into a day, as many try (2 days and we'll see A, B, C, D,… M, N, etc etc fail) but the humid heat sucks the energy out of most of us, so plans need to be very flexible.

There are some impressive 'Shopping' places/malls but I don't travel halfway round the world for shopping (or craft shops or gem shops), however they are quite useful for some air-con relief from the heat.

Leave the stress days for those spent at immigration or dealing with Thai officials.

    5) That bike ride was really restrained. Either you had a word with him beforehand or the little bike was straining under the extra kilos… 555

  11. November 2019 I was last on kohsan RD and mid afternoon was the same as this video but soon as it was dark you couldn't move, like you Trevor everything I'm in Bangkok I get lost, ridiculous hard remembering where to go

  12. Trev, a great off the cuff vid of Bangkok. I agree with what you say about KSR in that it has changed and it is sad really from the old KSR times. When on your tuk tuk ride back to the Ambassador Hotel @27.38mins into the vid, if you just go right of the light green building is the canal taxi that takes you through the heart of the city and stops at Soi 3 (Nana area) and Asoke (Soi Cowboy area) for 12bth and you get to see the real life of local Thais who live amongst the sky scrapper buildings.

  13. Nice one Herr Trevor 👍. I think you would have got a beer at that place by the river if you'd asked someone. That Ambassador hotel I know alot of visitors from India stay there. Do they stay at your hotel at Nana or not so much? The food at Khao San Rd looked great 🤤. I've yet to go there myself but I have heard that there are plenty of FL girls there yes 😉. I'd be dreading someone pulling out in front of me on the motorcycle taxi 🙈 🇹🇭🍻

  14. If you had turned right at the end of the narrow soi you would have come to the pier for the river ferry and the white fort and park by the river. The ferry is a great way to travel down river and hook up with the BTS back to Siam Square. You would have a had a nicer day.

  15. Nice video Trevor. Very entertaining and has great content : humour , information, advice et all(my French is masterful too, haha)! But what I like and appreciate the most is your respectful behavior when it's called for. Thanks so much for that 👍 👍.
To my ignorance I didn't even realize that the Erawan Shrine was the one targeted in 2015.
Hope that awful incident will never be repeated.
Really surprised how quiet Bangkok still is though. Visited in January – March to see my girlfriend and understandably the streets were empty then, but would have expected things to have picked up a lot. Going again in 5 weeks time so maybe they'll have an end of season tourism boom 🤔?Hope so for the sake of the locals more than anything.
Anyway mate please keep up the good work and enjoy your travels.

  16. Rambutri’s obviously not Trevor’s stomping ground, those buildings on the left are part of a temple. It was a good area, pre pandemic but obviously very quiet now. Large beer 80/90 baht, reasonable food and accommodation. Sit outside and listen to live music in the evening.

  17. Hi Trev ,Really enjoyed the 3 vids about your visit to Bangkok it seems that it hasn't moved on much since my last visit in April earlier this year.Made me laugh when you said about the girl throwing her arm around your neck to see if you had finished your beer .It sounds like exactly the same bar and girl I went too …not going to name it though.

  18. The guy in the moto-taxi was a bit crazy but definitely the fastest way of travelling it makes you nervous just watching but I have done it myself. I think a two-day trip to Bangkok from Pattaya sounds like a good idea. I will take a lady friend of mine and just see where the wind or river or mototaxi takes us. Thanks

  19. You're right in my neighborhood mate! My house is just maybe 1km north of there. At 11:10 when you were looking for the river you were right across the street from the UN FAO offices. The river is directly behind their offices. Turn left and walk up the street (south) maybe 200m and the pier is right there.
You could have taken that motorbike taxi to Phan Fa Bridge (you went right over it) and then taken the infamous Klong Saan Saeb river taxi back to Soi 15 and then walked back or taken another motorbike taxi back to your hotel.
